The foundational expansion of Georgia's DNA collection program. Amended former O.C.G.A. § 24-4-60 to require DNA samples from all persons convicted of any felony and incarcerated in a state correctional facility, effective July 1, 2000, replacing the sex-offense-only mandate; added oral swabs and other noninvasive procedures as permissible collection methods (previously only blood draws were authorized); and applied retroactively to pre-2000 felony convicts still incarcerated.
