Added Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 295) to Title 9 of Part 1 of the Penal Code — §§ 295 through 300.3 — creating the 'DNA and Forensic Identification Data Base and Data Bank Act of 1998,' and repealed former Penal Code § 290.2. This is the foundational statute for California's modern DNA database, later expanded by Proposition 69 (2004).
