Wyoming Attorney General, Division of Criminal Investigation rules establishing Forensic Genetic Genealogy as a distinct regulatory program, separate from the DNA Identification Record program. Chapter 2 defines FGG as DNA testing and genealogical research on forensic samples to find the identity of a person, and defines 'violent crime' as homicide, sex crimes and other serious criminal offenses as determined by the Division. Chapter 3 requires agencies to submit specified case information and limits approval to unsolved violent crimes or unidentified remains of suspected homicide victims where the sample has been uploaded to CODIS and CODIS searching has failed to produce a probative and confirmed match, and case information has been entered into ViCAP and/or NamUs; the Division also evaluates sample suitability before granting or denying the request in a documented response. Chapter 4 provides that the Division contracts with FGG vendors and pays them directly, with funding limited to DNA sequencing of approved forensic and reference samples and genetic genealogy research.
