TX: An Act Relating to Duties Following DNA Profile Comparisons (HB 4628, 88th Legislature, 2023)

Amended § 420.043, Government Code, imposing duties on law enforcement agencies, crime laboratories, and the Department of Public Safety following the performance of certain DNA profile comparisons — requiring accredited crime laboratories to monitor databases for DNA matches and notify the submitting law enforcement agency. Passed the House 146-0 (May 10, 2023) and the Senate 31-0 with amendments (May 22, 2023); House concurred 139-0 (May 25, 2023). Effective September 1, 2023.
