Ohio's Megan's Law. Rewrites R.C. Chapter 2950 to create the state's first comprehensive sexual predator and habitual sex offender classification, registration and community notification system, and establishes sentencing, imprisonment, assessment and monitoring procedures for sexually violent predators. The DNA provisions are the conforming amendments to R.C. 2901.07 carried at 146 Ohio Laws, Part II, 2568-2571: the same felony/prison-term and misdemeanor/imprisonment collection structure, jail and community-based correctional facility definitions, and post-release control definition enacted by Am. Sub. S.B. 269, together with the expanded division (D) offense list, which here adds a sexually oriented offense as defined in the new R.C. 2950.01 where the offender is adjudicated a sexual predator or habitual sex offender. This is the point at which Ohio's DNA collection list becomes tied to the sex-offender classification scheme, a linkage that persists in current R.C. 2901.07(D)(4).
