UT: DNA Processing Amendments (SB 247, 2020)

Enacted Utah Code § 53-10-403.6 setting standards for Rapid DNA testing: Rapid DNA may be used on specimens taken at booking or for non-CODIS comparisons during an investigation if a second specimen is submitted to the Bureau of Forensic Services or another NDIS-participating laboratory (no second sample required for touch DNA where no other sample exists), with all other Rapid DNA uses reserved to the bureau under FBI Quality Assurance Standards; also enacted § 67-5-1.2 authorizing the attorney general to assist local investigations, including Rapid DNA assistance, on request.
