TN: An Act Requiring Non-Incarcerated Sex Offenders to Provide DNA Specimens (HB 2854, Acts 2012, ch. 996, 2012)

Amended T.C.A. § 40-35-321 to require an offender not incarcerated at sentencing to report to the supervising probation division (or a person the court designates) so the specimen can be gathered, and made the defendant pay the cost of taking, processing, and storing the specimen, collected like other probation fees. Public Chapter 996 (HB 2854); effective upon becoming law (2012). (Applies to non-incarcerated offenders generally under the offender DNA-collection statute, not solely sex offenders.)
