As part of the 1999 omnibus crime-prevention and judiciary finance act, amended Minn. Stat. § 609.3461, subds. 1-2, to expand the enumerated categories of offenders who must provide a biological specimen for DNA analysis at sentencing and before release — adding manslaughter, assault, robbery/aggravated robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, incest, burglary, and indecent exposure to the existing murder, criminal sexual conduct, and patterned-sex-offender list — and directed the revisor to renumber § 609.3461 as § 609.117 (its current citation). 1999 Minn. Laws, Ch. 216 (SF 2221); DNA sections effective August 1, 1999. Note: this act expanded an enumerated offense list; Minnesota's move to all-felony collection came later (2005 Minn. Laws, Ch. 136).
