Emergency act amending Maine's DNA Data Base and Data Bank Act: repealed and replaced 25 MRSA § 1574(1) to require any person convicted on or after January 1, 1996 of a listed offense to submit a DNA sample by court order at sentencing, amended the § 1574 applicable-offense list (murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault, gross sexual assault, rape, sexual and child-sex offenses, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, arson, and lesser included offenses), designated the Chief of the State Police as responsible for the database, and clarified who may draw blood samples. PL 1997, c. 608 (LD 2027); effective March 18, 1998.
