CA: An Act Amending DNA Collection From Out-of-State Offenders (SB 1023, Ch. 43, 2012)

Amended Penal Code § 296.1 to update the timing and procedures for collecting specimens and print impressions across offender categories — probation and parole, jail terms, out-of-state offenders accepted under interstate compacts, and federal inmates — specifying buccal-swab collection and authorizing the DOJ DNA Laboratory to analyze and upload samples, conforming DNA collection to the 2011 realignment. Ch. 43; effective June 27, 2012.
