Amended Penal Code §§ 296, 296.1, 297, 298, 299, and 299.5 to expand convicted-offender DNA collection to persons adjudicated wards of the court and persons convicted in another state, federal, or military court of a California-qualifying offense; restricted samples from non-convicted persons to comparison within the same investigation absent a court order, required purging of a suspect's profile within two years of the filing of the information/indictment or upon acquittal or dismissal, and exempted retained forensic biological evidence from public-disclosure and return requirements.
