MI: An Act Requiring DNA Samples From All Felony Arrestees (SB 216, Laws 2006, ch. 104, 2006)

Established pre-conviction arrestee DNA collection in New Mexico. Enacted a new section of Chapter 29, Article 3 requiring any person 18 or older arrested for an enumerated serious felony to provide a DNA sample upon booking (for arrests on or after January 1, 2007), and amended the DNA Identification Act to fold arrestees into the system, add expungement rights on dismissal/acquittal, and require submission of DNA from sexual-assault-victim exam kits. Laws 2006, ch. 104 (SB 216); effective January 1, 2007. (Collection reaches enumerated serious felonies, not literally all felonies.)
